Glacier Walk and South Coast
The tour (Snow39) will take you to Sólheimajökull glacier by the south coast. We start early morning by picking you up at your accommodation in Reykjavík. The tour takes us along the south coast, past Eyjafjallajökull glacier - and on to our base.
Sólheimajökull glacier where we will be walking is an outlet from Mýrdalsjökull, the fourth largest glacier in Iceland. The glacier covers about 600 km2. Below the glacier lies the volcano Katla, one of the biggest volcanoes in Iceland.
After prodiving you with the necessary safety equipment and a short lesson in ice walking we head onto the glacier. Our route goes over amazing terrain with crevasses, sink holes and ice ridges.
After the glacier walk we will head back to Reykjavík. On the return we make a stop at the magnificent waterfalls Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss.
Difficulty: No special skills are required. The tour can be enjoyed by people in generally good health.
Minimum age requirement: 10 years
PLEASE NOTE: ON THIS TOUR YOU WILL SEE THE SOUTH COAST, DO ONE GLACIER ACTIVITY AND VIEW TWO WATERFALLS.
