ATV Black Beach Safari & the Plane Wreck
ATV, Black Sands, the DC3 Plane Wreck and Mountain Views
The tour starts with a briefing and safety instructions at the ARCANUM base nearby Mýrdalsjökull glacier in South Iceland.
From the base we head down to the black lava sands, crossing small rivers on the way. The black lava sand derives from previous glacial outbursts of the dormant volcano Katla.
Down at the black beach we stop and enjoy the amazing view up to the Mýrdalsjökull glacier (weather dependent) and along the coast to the southernmost part of Iceland, the small peninsula Dyrhólaey.
On we go along the coast to the famous aircraft wreck, from there we continue to the river Jökulsá and up to the foot of the mountain.
On the return ride we follow the mountain back to the base.
This tour gives you the opportunity to get in touch with the raw black lava sand landscape by the south coast, an unforgettable experience of conflicting landscapes where the nature envelopes the traveller in its warm embrace.
Please note: All drivers must be 17 years of age or older and have a full, valid driver's license. A learner's permit, tractor, or motorcycle license is not sufficient according to Icelandic law.

Awesome adventure! A must do! Best part of our trip to Iceland. David our guide was amazing. Highly recommend!! ...

... Our guide Adrian took us through many rivers... speeding across the black sand beach to the whale bones and DC3 plane wreck and to a 'secret' valley... Highly recommend Arcanum Adventure Tours - 5 stars.

Highlight Of Our Trip! This was the highlight of our trip! Truly an amazing experience. We had two full hours of ATVing across the black sand beaches, the mountains and the deserted plane. My husband and I rode single ATV bikes while my parents shared one. David was an incredible guide and I wish we could have done it again and/or rode for longer. Would definitely recommend! ...
